Both! CQ has the right name, UCI the right date of birth. Very Happy
UCI has updated the birth date to 12-07-1998.

Peter LASZLO is his name on several occasions, like http://www.federatiadeciclism.ro/sportivi-licentiati-2015/ on the website of the Romanian Federation. This seems correct. I believe CQ has the wrong one (isn't this a former Hungarian rider?)

There are 2 different riders indeed; with CEPEDA Jefferson (Ecu, born 16/06/1998) riding for Team Ecuador this year while the other one is leaving this team for the bolivian one ! scratch
Quite confusing, is not it ?

That is confusing! I added CEPEDA Jefferson ECU19980616 to our database and added him to Team Ecuador. CEPEDA HERNANDEZ Jefferson Alveiro ECU19960302 was removed from Team Ecuador and is still in Team Bolivia. Unfortunately I could not find the extra names for the 1998-Cepeda.

With keeping the Korean riders' names, we're up to date now, right?

Still pending: confirmation of Peter LASZLO.

In the official start lists and results ROU19980712 is indeed Peter LASZLO but he calls himself Laszlo Peter on his facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/peter.laszlo.359 Not many people use on facebook their family name first ….

According to that same facebook page he went to school at the Colegiul National Octavian Goga in Miercurea-Ciuc.
If you Google a bit further you find that a certain Lazslo PETER, and also a Karoly PETER, live Allea Octavia Goga No 8 in Miercurea-Ciuc. http://www.locatefamily.com/Street-Lists/Romania/HARGHITA/MIERCUREA_CIUC/index6.html

A couple of his family members on Facebook have the last name Laszlo, for example his sister Kamilla (see Family and Relationships). In certain countries it is a habit to name your family name first, then given name. I am sure, with your help of finding his Facebook page, that Laszlo is his last name.

Yes you are right Dijk, but I still wonder who the Laszlo PETER is that lives in the street where Peter LASZLO went to school… Smile
The story reminds me a bit of SEBESTYEN Szabolcs who for many years has been in the UCI results SZABOLCS Sebestyen…

With the Peter LASZLO story now solved, the only pending item under Rider Data is the artificial 01/01 in the birthdate of Valens NDAYISENGA.

No, 19940101 is not the birthdate of Valens NDAYISENGA. For him, as for many people in African countries subject to ethnic and civil wars in the last decades of the last century, no birth record exists. As an UCI code requires eight digits, 0101 was added to 1994, the (probable) year of birth of Valens.
A few weeks ago these artificial 0101 (and 1231) additions in the UCI codes of riders from Burkina Faso, Rwanda, Uganda, Mali and Lesotho were deleted from the CQ database, leaving only the year.

Noticed that in the database Valens got his artificial 0101 back again …

I leave this one for the data masters.  We use the UCI code & birthdate all in one value.  His UCI Code is including 0101 and since we don't have the real birthdate, I would keep the full UCI code, incuding 0101.  But that's only my opinion.

If the data masters decide to keep the 0101 then, for consistency, some 50 riders from Burkina Faso,  Rwanda, Uganda, Mali and Lesotho should get their artificial 0101’s and 1231’s back as well.
With the introduction of the UCI ID’s, without any correlation to the date of birth, the need for CQ to follow the UCI is not relevant anymore.

It does not belong under this topic but, as far as being up to date now, there are several posts pending under Results 2006, 2007 and 2012, some dating back to June 2016… Shocked

we solved the fisrt name, last name issue, but the romanisation is still unclear to me. I sttill would suggest adapting the names the way the Korean Federation does it.
26728; LEE Jun Hee -> LEE Joon Hee
26734; BANG Seon Hoe -> BANG Sun Hwoi
26735; SO In Su -> SO In Soo

Hungarian people told for their lastname, then their firstname. F.e. we don't call Laszlo Bodrogi, but Bodrogi Laszlo.

For Ndayisenga, you will probably never find. A lot of children born during rwanda civil war have 01/01 as birthdate. Maybe Valens doesn't know himself what is his real birthdate.

We will set his birth date to 19940000. This way it is clear that he doesn't have a known birthdate but we should look no further.

I guess we could do the same to those +/- 50 other riders. At their rider page the date 00/00/19xx will be shown, instead of only 19xx.
Just to make a difference between riders without an exact birthdate, and riders for which we have only found their year of birth so far.

Very good idea.
I see that this has already been done, in addition to Valens NDAYISENGA, for the riders from Rwanda.
For other African countries there are the following riders where you also may add the 0000.

It seems you're right, although he is always referred to as Mohamed Mehrab.  I don't know how to put it right.  Let's keep it like this for now.

Before he started cycling with Al Ahli he played football with the same club and his full name is:
Mohammad Humaid Mehrab Hussain AL SABBAGH
https://www.fanet.ae/uaefa/aspx/public/matches.aspx?&lang=en&id=9616

In the official results of the Asian Championships 2015 he is AL SABBAGH Muhammad Humaid.

Maybe ALSABBAGH Mohammad Humaid Mehrab is the right mix for the database. Smile
