have you thought about including the twitter or facebook direction of some riders in their profile? That said, maybe it's just a trend and two or three years from now, cyclists are no longer using twitter.

LeonCQ wrote:
Yes, we are considering that, but - just as the websites of riders - it will take a lot of work to keep it up-to-date. And as you say: it might be just a hype for a year or so.
(so: to be continued)

By the way, Patrik Stenberg has a blog that could be considered his website: http://patrikstenberg.blogg.se/

Listed as Plowman Craven, but has been riding for the Endura Racing team since June 3rd (which is also when another Brit Ross Creber joined Endura).

See: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Endura-Racing/37864713666

Actually I just noticed that the Plowman Craven team has disappeared from the UCI list of Continental Teams. That has happened also to other teams, like Team Piemonte, but this one is new for us. The teamsite is also a dead link now. Has anyone more info on this?

Yeh, they are no longer a continental registered team. They encountered financial difficulties in June, and became just Madison.co.uk

http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news/latest/344841/plowman-craven-madison-team-survives-but-faces-changes.html

I know that Tony Gibb left the team around that time aswell to Elite-2 - not sure if any other riders left also.

Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

Irish Criterium Champion Paul Healion died in a car-crash on the Glack to Drumcondrath Road near Ardee Co. Louth night Sunday 16th August. The crash occurred at around 10.30pm, Paul was the sole occupant of the car and there were no other vehicles involved in the crash. Gardai are currently investigating the cause of the accident.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Paul's wife Ann, family and friends.

Emmanuele Sella appears as into contract with CMO from fomorrow (source: UCI). I was expecting him to appear today, but had to re-browse it (you know what, Leon) after realizing his ban finished at the end of today.

Official portrait of him from CMO's site:

I did a revision on Ñ's. Yes, checking all Spanish riders on the DB, which led me to some more errors. Anyway, here it's the round-up:

ID 7692 (HERNAN MARCOSANO Pablo) --> not a Spaniard, but Argentinean.

FilipCQ wrote:
"De Wielersite" says born in Argentina, but Spanish nationality. Also on Mémoire he is a Spaniard scratch .

ID 3520 (PEIRO MARQUENO Vicente) --> MARQUEÑO.

ID 7763 (CIMA MAGARINOS Jose Enrique) --> MAGARIÑOS.

ID 2684 (ALBIZURI ARANSOLO Benat) --> obviously Beñat.

ID 1482's results must be taken to ID 11423, since the correct rider is Guillen MUNOZ CUBELES (which is MUÑOZ, obviously).

ID 1430 (SANTOVENA CRESPO David) --> SANTOVEÑA.

ID 11175 (ORDONEZ CITOULA Fernando) --> ORDOÑEZ.

ID 650 (CHAURREAU BERNARDEZ Inigo) --> Iñigo.

Don't rely on that, I talked to my mate at BDS David, who's been the press officer of Azpiru team in the past (Marcosano's squad in 2008), and he told me that he was indeed living in Fuenlabrada (outskirts of Madrid) for many years, but considered himself an Argentinean.

But more confusing is that this year, he is listed in the elite2 races from the Spanish cup as Italian!? Suspect Confusing.

What about putting Spanish accents to riders? Some other riders like Taaramäe, Gaël Malacarne, etc have their accents in their names.

It might be just the CQ-rule. Only the most common accents are used: the Ñ is indeed used from some time ago, plus the umlauts (ä, ö, ü), cedilles (ç) and e-accents (é, ë, è) in French, but not accents in Easteuropean or Scandinavian languages, as well as in our Spanish, because that would make the research extremely annoying and slow (imagine all Czech, Slovakian and such names being revised all the way...). I'd like them to happen, but this time I think they're right with this choice and those accents are the most habitual and easy to find, since most of them repeat into the same names or surnames.

Btw. nice to see you over here too geek Surprised

LeonCQ wrote:
Thanks Dani, indeed, this is the way we do it. We just have to put a limit somewhere, and the Spanish accents are behind that limit...

The nationality of Cody CAMPBELL of Trek Livestrong is not American but Canadian. He actually finished 10th in the Canadian ITT Championship.

LeonCQ wrote:
Clear, thanks. But even his own team mentions Campbell as American: http://www.treklivestrongu23.com/the-team/

The result of the Moroccan RR Championship shows as number 15 a certain Mostepha El Amel with Algerian nationality. In the UCI results this rider, with the respectable age of 42, is Moroccan and his name is spelled slightly different: Mustapha El Amal.

LeonCQ wrote:
Regarding his age, it might be the same rider as shows up in de Tour de Algeria in 2001. I corrected his nationality and name.

There is a little hickup in the nationality code of the Iranian rider Mehdi BASHAFAAT, 9th in the Iranian RR Championship.
