Volta a Catalunya Stage 3 Empty
PostSubject: Volta a Catalunya Stage 3   Volta a Catalunya Stage 3 EmptyThu May 10, 2012 10:00 pm

This stage was evidently rather chaotic, and was deemed void in terms of the GC for the Volta, but the placings remain valid and worthy of points. However, the points listed at CQ are consistent with neither the official website of the event or those published on the UCI's site. Strangely, the uciworldtour.com site disagreed with the uci.ch site, but the world tour points allocated follow uci.ch. When I pointed out this discrepancy to the UCI in the last few days, they were adamant that the correct set of results are those at uci.ch

Thus I believe that the relevant CQ point allocations should be:
1. [SLO] BRAJKOVIC Janez AST 40
2. [POL] GOLAS Michal OPQ 25
3. [FRA] CHEREL Mikael ALM 15
4. [ITA] CARRARA Matteo VCD 10
5. [AUT] ROHREGGER Thomas RNT 5
6. [DEN] SØRENSEN Chris Anker SAX 3
7. [USA] VANDE VELDE Christian GRM 2
8. [SUI] TSCHOPP Johann BMC 1

Thus I believe that you have issued VANDE VELDE Christian, TSCHOPP Johann, and KRUIJSWIJK Steven with one more point each than they should have, and SØRENSEN Chris Anker with three points fewer than he should be entitled to, with resulting adjustments to team and national ratings.

UCI (and almost every one else Wink) is wrong here. We have footage from the finish, which shows the correct finishing order.

Thanks for the link: I wonder whether UCI would alter their results on the basis of that evidence. In the meantime, its good to see that CQ favours proof over authority, de facto over de jure.

That is what we always try to do, although it's not easy. But in such cases we should always put a Race Comment after the result, just to inform CQ's visitors about the differences compared to the official one. So thanks for your remark!

In that case I would like to see a remark for Fuglsang's 18th place in San Sebastian 2011 as well.

Same for JJ Rojas in Liège - Bastogne - Liège 2012, he crossed the line in 26th position but the jury put him as DSQ (he do the official route, not so Valverde, Madrazo...). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2O8-QU_PoGg Min 33:45

Actually this is a bit different. That he crossed the finish line is not disputed. There is no proof however that he rode the entire route.

The group with Madrazo, Lastras, Valverde and De Vreese didn't follow the official route and that's why they were DSQ but JJ Rojas was in a group ahead at that moment.

"...Valverde's group was also bad guided in a cross by the motorbikes opening the race, making impossible to bridge the gap for the Murcian, who went calm to the finish line along with Pablo Lastras".

"...neutralized into the final kilometer by Kazakh Maxim Iglinskiy (AST), winner over the Italian and team-mate Enrico Gasparotto, who led the first pursuit group just over a minute before a second bunch commanded by Rui Costa and also made by Rojas (26th), unexpectedly absent from the race's official classification".

In RVV 2011 there was a mixup between Jonas Aaen and Baden Cooke.
Discussed here: https://cqranking.actieforum.com/t81p30-results-2011
That might need a remark too
