PostSubject: Remarkable Rider Stories   Remarkable Rider Stories EmptySun Aug 24, 2014 2:34 pm

In this topic you and we can post some links to remarkable rider stories, like the examples in the next posts. I will make no definition of "remarkable", but leave that to your own opinion. Wink

Some time (hopefully very soon) we hope to show these stories on teh CQ site at our CQ Press Center. Might be a monthly issue or so.

Thanks in advance!

If you ever get the time to do something with stories about “exotic” riders then you can also include this one about Larry VAUGHAN of St Kitts and Nevis who, apart from riding a bike from time to time, is a bank manager. In October 2011 he and his wife were abducted. Story here: http://m.sknvibes.com/news/newsdetails.cfm/69191

When looking for information on riders who are “ageless” in the database, you sometimes come across some small stories of human drama and success.

The first name of “Spike” TOMLINSON from Bermuda is actually Stephen and he was with the Fast Forward Team in the 2011/12 season: http://bicycleworks.bm/about/team-pg61.htm
Originally from the UK, he was living in Bermuda since 1991 but after a fire in the workshop of hiss boss he lost his job as spray painter and was kicked out of Bermuda earlier this year: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2140791/Family-kicked-Bermuda-20-years-UK-overseas-territory-clamps-BRITISH-immigrants.html
With his age mentioned in the article, this gives for the database:
15106;TOMLINSON Stephen;BER1966 Retired (unless he starts also a new cycling career in the UK)

Kevin TOPPLE, a fundraiser for the Bermudan Cancer and Health Centre, also went to the UK but out of his own free will. He came back to Bermuda again and raised $20,000 for the good cause: http://www.royalgazette.com/article/20110530/ISLAND02/705309937
From his age in this article, dating from 2011, his database entry becomes:
15102;TOPPLE Kevin;BER1963
