CQ points prediction game for the Spring Classics Empty
PostSubject: CQ points prediction game for the Spring Classics   CQ points prediction game for the Spring Classics EmptySat Feb 15, 2020 2:33 am

For many years, there have been prediction games run on the Cycling News Forum and Velorooms.com in which both the price of riders, and the points available for them to win, are based on the CQ rankings.  How is it that these have not been advertised here?  My apologies for my part of the oversight.  I see one or two familiar names in the member list here, but lots of potential new contestants too.

The riders have had a chance to do their warm-up races, and we are now 2 weeks from the northern European start to the season, which for many is where it really starts.

It is also where our Spring Classics CQ game starts.

Your team, should you accept the challenge, is to consist of 12 riders, whose CQ price at 1 January was in total no more than 3000 points in total.

You will gain points, and the attached bragging rights, according to the CQ scales and the performance of your chosen dozen in the following races:

29-Feb   Omloop Het Nieuwsblad       1.UWT3

29-Feb   Faun-Ardèche Classic      1.Pro

01-Mar   Kuurne-Bruxelles-Kuurne      1.Pro

01-Mar   Royal Bernard Drome Classic      1.Pro

07-Mar   Strade Bianche      1.UWT3

08-Mar   GP Industria & Artigianato      1.Pro

18-Mar   Danilith Nokere Koerse      1.Pro

19-Mar   Grand Prix de Denain - Porte du Hainaut      1.Pro

20-Mar   Bredene Koksijde Classic      1.Pro

21-Mar   Milano-Sanremo      1.UWT1

25-Mar   AG Driedaagse Brugge-De Panne      1.UWT3

27-Mar   E3 BinckBank Classic      1.UWT2

29-Mar   Gent-Wevelgem in Flanders Fields      1.UWT2

01-Apr   Dwars door Vlaanderen - A travers la Flandre      1.UWT3

04-Apr   Gran Premio Miguel Indurain      1.Pro

05-Apr   Ronde van Vlaanderen - Tour des Flandres      1.UWT1

08-Apr   Scheldeprijs      1.Pro

12-Apr   Paris-Roubaix      1.UWT1

15-Apr   De Brabantse Pijl - La Flèche Brabançonne      1.Pro

19-Apr   Amstel Gold Race      1.UWT2

19-Apr   Tro-Bro Léon      1.Pro

22-Apr   La Flèche Wallonne      1.UWT2

26-Apr   Liège-Bastogne-Liège      1.UWT1

01-May   Eschborn-Frankfurt      1.UWT3

I should manage to get an update up within 24 hours or so of each event.

You will need to get your team to me before the first of these events start, so 11am CET on 29 Feb.  A PM on this forum should do the job.  I will send my team to the first manager to send in their names (but not before Monday evening, as I am away for the weekend).

As ever, your efforts to submit your rider list in CQ format, with nothing else on the same line, are appreciated.

Entries so far (as of late on Friday 21st)
AmisVelo
Armchair
Blues_in_the_Bottle
Comodoro
Del1962
Hakkie2
Joelsim
Scrool07

Last year saw a record score and a huge winning margin in this game: what will we get this time around?

Good luck to all.

With just over a week to go, we have seven teams in (plus my own, which has been lodged with Hakkie).

There is a Dropbox file that will help you check the prices and name formats of your riders, and includes a column with the points earned by riders in this series of races last year.

19 teams in so far, with most of Thursday, all of Friday and part of Saturday (depending on your time zone) left to get your team to me.

95 different riders have been selected: 2 of them are on more than half the teams, 53 are only picked once (including one who retired at the end of last season: oops)

Only two pairs of teams have the same two riders as their most expensive picks.

And how are they performing so far?

Samir! You had been a regular in these games. Come back and join in again. You (and anyone else here, of course) still have a little over 24 hours to get a team in for the Giro CQ game: pick 8 riders with a total score in the 27/09/20 CQ download of up to 3500 points: how many CQ points will they get in the Giro?

As to your enquiry about the Spring game, I relaunched it with a bunch of different races and the chance to make some substitutions, and in one of the 2020est of twists of fate, I am in the lead, mainly by virtue of being the only manager to pair Kwiatkowski with Van Aert.

I would like to disassociate myself from the payday loan offer that somehow seems to have become integrated into my message as quoted by Samir.
