Judging by the time of the winner and the time gaps in the top ten this must not have been a simple flat ITT but one with a mountain top finish.

Well, actually trainees are even allowed to ride a race with an amateur team or selection during their traineeship.
But not with their former CT, so the traineeship of Jesper Hansen (see frenchfan's post above) will start only tomorrow.

That last part is actually not true - riders may well ride with their former CT during their traineeship.

Quoting the UCI regulations:

2.15.110bis In addition, in the period between 1 August and the end of the year, each UCI ProTeam may admit into the team three elite or under 23 riders on the following conditions:
1. In the case of an elite rider, he shall not previously have belonged to any UCI ProTeam or professional continental team;

3. The UCI ProTeam shall obtain the authorisation of the national federation of the rider and if applicable, the authorisation of the national federation of the continental team in which he is registered;

6. The riders in question may continue to take part in events in their club team or, if appropriate,
in their UCI continental team.

Jesper Hansen rode Sunday's Post Cup race in a Saxo-Tinkoff jersey, but he'll do the the Tour des Fjords with Cult Energy.
