Getting the spelling and the sequence of given name / surname correct appears not only to be a problem with riders from China, Spain, Portugal or the Arabic countries but also with those from Eritrea.
In comparing the UCI African Continental ranking of february with the one of the month before, I noticed that they have changed the names of several riders in the result of the Tour of Eritrea of last December.
Just a few examples, and a comparison with the CQ names:
- Daniel TEKLEHAYMANOT has become Daniel GIRMAZION (same date of birth). CQ: Daniel TEKLEHAIMENOT.
- Freqalsi DEBESEY is now called Freqalsi ABRHA. In CQ this rider is known as Freqalsi Abrha DEBESEY.
- Dawit HAILE becomes Dawit ARAYA. In CQ he is called Haile DAWIT although in the database CQ has also a Dawit ARAYA.
- Bereket ABEBE changes to Berlouet YEMANE. The name in CQ is Bereket YEMANE ABEBE.
- Khsay MELAKE (UCI) is in CQ shown as Melake KAHSAY.
- Isayas WELDETINSAE (CQ) is called Esayas WOLDENSE by the UCI.
Maybe you have a contact in Eritrea who can solve this puzzle......

I think the (temporary?) solution is to use combined names like Daniel TEKLEHAYMANOT GIRMAZION, unless there has been a clear mistake in the name CQ has used so far.
